With costs rising faster than homemade dough, our pizza days were dwindling away. However, now that I have found this recipe, and tweaked it some to go even further, we are enjoying our pizza days again!
2 1/2 teaspoons, or 1 package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 cup hot water (110’F)
2 1/2 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
* Preheat oven 450′ F
* In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in hot water (110’F) until creamy.
* Stir in flour, salt and oil. Mix all ingredients together and form a ball. Let rest for 5 minutes.
* On a flour dusted smooth surface (table or counter), roll out your dough ball. Then, turn into a greased pizza pan, and or a small cookie sheet.
Load with your favourite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes.
1 dough ball can fit a small cookie sheet for a regular crust, then follow the above directions.
Also, 1 dough ball can be divided to make 2 thin crusts for medium size pizza pans. For thin crust you must pre-cook the crusts for 7-8 minutes before loading your favorite toppings, then finish cooking for 5-7 minutes.
